Pattern Play

There is nothing quiet like a scavenger hunt at the local thrift store to spark my creative interests. A few weeks ago, I was on such a hunt, and for polka dots in particular, when happened upon only the coolest striped shirt! As a dressing challenge, inspired by this lovely lady, I decided to have a little fun with pattern mixing. And here’s where I ended up:

I layered my new favorite striped blouse with a sweet polka-dotted number (also from the same thrift hunt) and a steady staple of my Spring/Summer wardrobe, my leopard spotted Old Navy shift dress. Those and a few other funky accessories made for an enjoyable exercise in pattern proportions and mixing as well as a fun little outfit that I can’t wait to recreate again!

I absolutely love the volume these billowy sleeves brought to the ensemble….and the floral belt made for a cheerful accent.

So pattern play was a great success and something you all should try…GOT IT! 😉
